Before long, neither is sure who is catching who—or if they're playing for keeps. Jillian knows one thing though: falling in love will not only break the only rule of boy-catching, it could also break her heart.

From the influx of so many new-adult books the past months I'm really happy that I was able to find this little jewel and witnessed a really sweet and heartwarming contemporary story. Catching Liam was a fun and lighthearted read with enough emotional insight and depth that would definitely tug your heart strings and touch you. 

I was a little wary while reading this one especially after all my not so great experiences from this particular genre. But I'm glad to say that Sophie Blue manages to surprise me with how well she took things in this story. The characters were well developed, the plot was hilarious, romantic and touching, and the writing was surprisingly good. And I liked how this certain health condition was handled with knowledge and understanding. It isn't perfect but it has all what it takes for me to really like a contemporary novel. 

Jillian Nichols and Liam McAvoy were characters I really enjoyed reading about. They were easy characters to connect with and understand. Their relationship, although started in quite an unconventional way, grew naturally and genuinely. But with lots of swoon-worthy, giggle-inducing and steamy moments. 

Jillian's issues was something that saddened me and grab my heart and emotions especially with how hard she tried to hide it and how negatively it affected her thinking of self-worth. As the story progressed though, as her feelings with Liam developed and through his and her best friends' support she learned that she could face it together with them, with their help, with their love and care. 

And on to Liam, well I just have to say I second what JLA said about him in her review - definitely one of the swoon-worthiest male leads I'd ever read. Not just from his looks but from his overall characteristics - understanding, patient and very supportive. And did I mention he's a scot? Just imagine the accent. (Zachary Moore got himself some competition now on the kilt department. Haha.) 

The secondary characters too, I have to say, were well rounded especially Jess. Her friendship with Jillian was actually one of my favorite aspects in this book. It was very tender, heartwarming and amazing.

Quirky, sexy and fun but completely heartwarming. This book will definitely work out for those who enjoy contemporary reads without the worry of it being too stressing but with enough depth and insights that will still make you appreciate it in a deeper level. I recommend this.

But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

Cora Carmack, the first time I've seen your name on your debut novel, Losing It, I know you'd be a favorite author. Then I read it and totally loved it which just made you an official favorite. Months later you came back with another book, Faking It, which I have to say I absolutely adored! And that's when I knew I you just made your way through my heart as one of the authors I'll always be looking forward to. Thank you for writing these books.

Okay, where will I start with this one? Can I just say that I absolutely enjoyed it? Like really enjoyed it - great fun, with all the giggly, swoony and giddy feeling? Because that's what I think is missing on most of new-adult novels that's coming up lately. The fun. I don't know if you get what I mean but I've encountered a lot of NAs lately that were just too heavy, intense, dramatic and emotional (not to say frustrating as hell) that I'd end up feeling worried and anxious almost the entire time I just couldn't completely enjoy it. You know the feeling that even you, the reader, is tiptoeing around the story and characters, I slight wrong move will make everything bad. Wouldn't it be nice if even with all the issues and baggage the characters were carrying you could still feel relaxed and just enjoy their story? 

Thankfully, Faking It was exactly what I was looking for. It was a story with characters carrying emotional baggage and has to deal with their own personal demons yet it was also a story full of humor, laughs, sweetness and giddy feelings. It was a story where the author was able to make me really trust the characters and believed that even though one of them is expected to fucked things up they'd be able to still fix it in no time. 

I'm getting a lot of role reversal lately and I have to say that I'm absolutely loving it. Max is our rocker girl, who dropped out of college to pursue her dream of being a musician. She's a bad-ass who smokes, wears tattoos and dark sexy clothes with a no-nonsense attitude. While Cade is our golden all-American guy. The perfect gentleman, who goes to graduate school, a student volunteer and helps old ladies cross the street. 

How this two met and how their relationship started and developed was really funny and cute but it was still laced with deepness and seriousness as the story went on and as I learned more about each of them. I admit that there are moments that frustrated me quite a bit (although I know some of it were necessary for them to learn) but like I said, Carmack made me trust and understand them, so I was still able to relaxed and just see how they work things out. In the end I was rewarded with a really sweet and touching ending, with not so much drama, but still with great depth and insightfulness. 

Although I wouldn't completely disagree with those who said that it was quite predictable and that plot had already been used before I hope you wouldn't close your judgement in this book based on that because this book definitely has a lot more to offer than that. And as I've said it was really a very fun read. (And sexy!) I highly recommend this.

I'm probably one of the most fanatic readers of New-Adult contemporary books when it started inching out in the book blogosphere. I found myself grabbing and devouring every NA book I think I might like. However, just as fast at it have started, my enthusiasm for them has been just as short-lived. The problem, I think, was that everything has been the same. Same plot, same drama, same conflicts, same set of characters. I want new and unique. So, you see, I've been really pretty reluctant in picking up some NA lately. 

But here comes a NA from J.Lynn. As in Jennifer L. Armentrout. She's one of my most trusted author. I have enjoyed almost all her books. Sooooo I said, let see...

And boy oh boy, it was fantastic! Truthfully, I didn’t find Wait For You's plot as something new, original nor unique. But I can certainly say the opposite to its characters. JLA has this knack of making cliché or not so original plots into something very enjoyable by making her characters very very interesting. Her characters overshadowed the things that might have bothered me with the plot. They carried the story so very well that all you'd wanted to do is follow them and see what they would do with the conflicts and situation. 

Avery was a character I greatly empathize with. There was this vulnerability and innocence in her that would want you to hug her and protect her. Yet there were moments that she could be really feisty too and I really like that about her. Cam, oh boy, this guy just stole the number one spot from Daemon on my top book boyfriend list! Like Nick had said in her review, I think Cam is the swooniest hero Jennifer has created. He was sweet, caring, has an ego the size of the sun, cocky but also very understanding and patient. He has the right amount of Daemon, Aiden and Seth in him. Plus, he has a pet tortoise. Which is just so freaking cute!! The secondary characters too were never dull and never left in the shadow. Jacob and Brit are fantastic friends and I can't count how many times Jacob made me laugh so hard with all his antics and gay terms.

Another thing that made this book even more enjoyable - the great build-up and anticipation between the two main characters. I was so used to having the characters jump right into being in lust before building up any concrete relationship in most NA books I've read. Although I enjoyed some steamy stuff here and there, a good relationship build-up before anything else doesn't really hurt. And isn't it much better if everything is bottled up first and when the time comes it would just explode into so much awesomeness? Haha! I just loved how Avery and Cam's relationship developed from being schoolmates to neighbors to friends and then to lovers.

And yes, I almost forgot! The banters and the dialogues are the best! It drove me insane but also had me laughing out so loud. Seriously, do not read this late at night, it's very hard to stiffle laughter and this book definitely wouldn't let you sleep!  

Overall, this was very fantastic read. The plot may not be unique or original but the characters are definitely one hell of a lot of fun to read! I had so much fun reading this! I highly recommend this. Read this now!

I was gripping the door until my knuckles ached. “That’s… um, your tortoise?”

“Yeah.” A half grin appeared as he lifted the little guy. “Raphael meet Avery.”

Giving the tortoise a little wave, I kind of felt stupid afterward for doing so. It just stuck its head back in its green and brown shell. “That’s a very interesting pet.”

“And those are very interesting shorts.” His gaze dropped. “What are they?” Leaning forward his eyes narrowed, and I stiffened. “Pizza slices?”

Heat swamped my cheeks. “They’re ice cream cones.”

“Huh. I like them.” Straightening, his gaze drifted up me slowly, leaving an unfamiliar wake of heat behind. “A lot.”

I immediately let go of the door and crossed my arms over my chest. The corner of his lips tipped up. My eyes narrowed. “Thanks. That means a lot to me.”

“It should. They have my seal of approval.” He bit down on his lower lip as his lashes lifted. Those eyes pierced mine. “I need to get Raphael back in his little habitat before he pees on my hand, which he’s bound to do, and that sucks.”

Review: Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies #1) by Isaac Marion

Now that I've read this I kinda wanna slap myself for reading this just recently even though I have seen this a lot of times in goodreads for as long time with all its number of glowing reviews. And it was all because I thought it was corny and it just felt a little 'meh' on me - I mean a zombie and a teenage girl? Eww, right? Only until I realized that the movie adaptation will be out this month (and saw a zombie Nicholas Hoult in action) did I decide to finally give this book a try.

And boy, oh boy, did I want to drop on my knees and beg some forgiveness for being too judgmental. Because this book has just flat-out and completely proven me wrong! I mean, yes there were still those gory/weird moments and some parts where I don't know if I should take it seriously or just laugh it out but what I loved was that Marion was also able to make it into a very sweet, adorable and surprisingly very poignant and moving story. I have to admit, I did shed some tears while I was reading this. 

Marion's writing was what I enjoyed so much about this book. He wrote R's perspective in such a way that you would instantly connect and understand him. Which is saying a lot since he wrote a guy's pov and not just some guy but a guy zombie's pov. He wrote it so effectively and his prose so beautifully and lovely that compelled me to really adore and appreciate R's character despite the weirdness and absurdity of the situation.

More than anything else, I loved the underlying yet very powerful and thought-provoking poignant messages about hope, love, change and humanity in this book. It was something I wasn't expecting when I started this but it was what I had greatly appreciated about this book in the end. I loved how Marion made us delve deeper into the story and see the more important and bigger values and issues in it.

Mini Reviews: Callum & Harper by Amelie Fisher, Going Under by Georgia Cates, On Dublin Street by Samantha Young

I really enjoyed this book especially Callum and Harper's journey in finding a new life together. It was actually very sweet and touching and fascinating to read. I followed eagerly the journey of these two and how they worked and found ways to live from scratch after being thrown by their foster family after turning their legal age. I was glad that even though they were complete stranger when they first met I was able to see the connection between the two right away and it didn't feel awkward at all. I was impressed by how they worked as  a team effectively; they were able to survive every day, found place to spend the night, foods to eat, money for their daily expenses and all. They'd faced a lot of obstacles but they get through all of it with the help of each other. They were even able to go to college! I love how the relationship between the two developed. It was sweet, cute and very heart warming. Although I admittedly sometimes it kinda irritates me how the two keep misunderstanding the actions of each other when really they both felt the same way. I understand that both were pretty scared to lose one another. Still I really enjoyed moments between the two. The only problem I had with this book though was the drama on the last thirds. It felt like it just dragged the story too long. I wouldn't have minded it if it wasn't really that long though. Nonetheless, I think this could definitely pass up as one of my favorite and sweetest contemporary I've read. I recommend this.

This reminded me so much of Perfect Chemistry and Pushing the Limits although this one is published first before the latter. Actually it was pretty identical but for someone who's just looking for some sweet story with enough depth to read I think this could definitely work out for them. It wasn't that bad but since it was like I've read this story before it didn't really strike me anything. Sure, there were moments that I actually enjoyed, I just wished that it had offered something much more different and remembering. Some reactions from the other characters kinda put me off like the heroine's mom when she finds out who her daughter was dating. Of all people, she should understand them given her profession. It was kinda infuriating actually and a what-the-f* moment. The ending kinda weird-ed me out too. It was suddenly cut dead end, and in a worst scenario and then it was suddenly epilogue and it was happily ever after. I wish the author had explored the last parts some more. Nonetheless, despite the negative I've said it wasn't really that of a bad read. It was a fairly good and entertaining read.

I was surprised by how much I actually liked this story. It was my first book of Samantha Young and I didn't even know that she'd published a number of young-adult books before this and this is actually her first contemporary adult book. After reading this, I can say that Young is a talented writer and she sure knows what she was writing. The emotional depth and profundity of this book is very well showed and it successfully reached into me. I love how effectively she portrayed Jocelyn, the main character, that despite her flaws, mistakes and faults she was a character we understand. I love that she takes action; she knows she needed to see a therapist and she did it; she talk and thought of the things told on her and consider them. Although she gets to be stubborn and yes, definitely frustrating I can see how real and honest her character was written. The romance was definitely a winner for me. Branden is the kind of guy you'd totally love to be with. He was very persistent (in a cute and very sweet way), understanding and patient. I love how he never gave up on Jocelyn despite her streaks. This is not just some steamy romance novel because this book definitely has a lot more of depth that I had expected; it talks about friendship, acceptance, and forgiveness, overcoming fear and moving forward. This is a very worthy read. I totally love to recommend this.

Review: Come See About Me by C.K. Kelly Martin

Come See About Me was a very well thought and written book about a girl who suffers from a great loss and how she tries to deal with it and picks herself back. I try most of the time to avoid emotional books but for some reason there was something in this book that just pulls me to it. So, even though it wasn’t on my reading schedule for this week I picked it up, squeeze it in and read it. And I’m really glad to find out and say that this book was a very good and lovely read.

First, I have to applaud, the author for writing such a very profound story of loss and overcoming it. She captured the emotions and feelings accurately and realistically making me understand the characters easily. The way she voiced Leah’s thoughts and feelings was so genuine and honest. So although some situations seem quite frustrating I could understand that it was her way of grieving and that her reactions were natural and expected. 

I love how this book effectively showed that the world continues to move on and that no matter how much you resist it, you'll have to go along with it. That life continues even with all those devastating things you had experienced. That through time you'll learn to accept and live with it. Never forgetting though but still continuing to live life.

As much as I love romance I'm glad that the romance here never overshadowed the plot and that as Leah rediscovered herself it wasn't because of a new found love, albeit it did contribute a part on it, but still it was all her. I wouldn't exactly say that this is a love story because clearly this one focuses more in Leah's struggles on finding herself back, rediscovering and realizing things about herself. But still there were sweet and steamy moments that were very well played here that never failed to make me swoon. 

I love how the author wrote the ending. Although it was a little open-ended it leaves you a reassuring feeling that Leah is indeed finally moving on and that everything is going the way it should be. 

This is my first book of this author and after reading this I will definitely be checking out more of her books. This is a very well written book about self-discovery and picking one's self up after a devastating experience. The author captured just the right emotions and just the right way of dealing with it. I highly recommend this.
