Waiting on Wednesday (#27)

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, that spotlight upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" is...

It was bizarre and inexplicable, and after it happened, Ingrid Waverly was forced to leave her life in London behind. She had to trade a world full of fancy dresses and society events for exile in gothic Paris with her mother and her younger sister, Gabby.

In Paris there are no grand balls or glittering parties, and disturbingly, the house rented by Ingrid's twin brother, Grayson, isn't a house at all. It's an abbey. A creepy, old abbey with a roof lined in stone gargoyles that could almost be mistaken for living, breathing creatures.

And to top it all off, Grayson is missing.

Yet no one seems to be concerned about Grayson's whereabouts save for Luc, a devastatingly handsome servant who has some deep and dark secrets of his own.

There's one secret about the city that even Luc can't keep hidden, though: there's a murderer on the loose. And every day that Grayson is missing means there's less chance he's still alive.

Ingrid is sure her twin isn't dead--she can feel it deep in her soul--but she knows that he's in grave danger, and that it's up to her and Gabby to find him before all hope is lost.

And yet the path to him is more dangerous than she could ever imagine.

Gargoyles? Paris? Creepy old abbey? A murderer? Give me this!
I'm not really into gothic historical fiction but with all those things I've mentioned, the mysteriousness of it all, they definitely made this book sounds so interesting and exciting to read!

  1. Oh wow! *shivers* I'm not really into thrilling read or anything horror, but this book seems to good to pass! I love the cover, it's perfect for this book! Historical fiction is my cup of tea, and I love gothic... fashion. :P Not gothic fiction, but like I said, I'm kind of attracted to read this. Need to wait for some reviews rolling in before I pick this up though! ;)

    Wonderful pick, Eunice! :)

  6. Historical fiction is a strange one for me. I have loved the few that I've tried, though I do tend to be pretty particular about what I go for. This sounds exactly like my sort of book! Plus the cover is stunning, too. :) Great pick, Eunice!

  11. I just literally clicked from one blog to yours, Eunice and not only is their last post a WoW like yours but it's for the same book! Lol! I have this book but I didn't realize the setting was Paris which makes me so excited to read it because I've just come back from vacationing there! Great choice. :)
